Donations

Blue Ribbon representatives are not financially compensated for assisting clients in conciliating, mediating, representing and intervening on important conflict issues brought to our attention by our clients.   However, there are expenses associated with providing these types of services.  For these reasons, donations are accepted but NOT required.  No donation is too small, and it is tax deductible.  Upon receiving your donation, you will receive an email confirming your donation for tax purposes.  Make your donations payable to Blue Ribbon Retaliation Intervention Center

    FAQ

What will be my personal obligations with your non-profit organization during representation and/or are there any considerable out-of-pocket cost or other financial obligations that I will be held responsible for before, during, or after representation?

Blue Ribbon is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals who believe they have been victims of unfair employment or governmental practices that resulted in inconsistent actions and/or service by the organization, business or individual. We do not assist with standard cases where we determine the actions by the opposite party or parties were appropriate.

Our case selection is based on the information provided to us, pending a thorough review of all related documents. Once we examine the case and analyze every piece of evidence, we collaborate with the client to develop intervention and mediation strategies that we believe offer the best course of action. However, we cannot guarantee that these strategies will produce the desired outcome. The only assurance we can provide is that Blue Ribbon commits significantly more time and effort than some attorneys.

We do not require any personal obligations from those we assist. However, any logistical costs—other than the time donated by volunteer experts—will be the responsibility of the client unless stipulated otherwise.

The only expectation is that you pay it forward by helping others in similar situations—not through financial support, but by volunteering your time or advocating on their behalf. That said, we deeply appreciate all donations, whether large or small.

Since we do not accept gratuities in any form—except from clients—to avoid conflicts of interest, donations have played a crucial role in covering costs, maintaining essential services, and investing in new technology to better serve our clients.

Who will be the official attorney to receive my case within your non-profit?

Blue Ribbon does not employ attorneys. Instead, it consists of retired civilians and law enforcement personnel with experience in intervention and mediation, some of whom may have personally experienced disparate treatment. However, Blue Ribbon collaborates with litigation attorneys when its intervention may conflict with potential legal proceedings. Managing partners will inform you of this after conducting a case evaluation.

It is your responsibility to provide all relevant documents and cover any associated costs, including electronic and/or hard copies of necessary documentation. Once the case is closed, all documents will be deleted from protected servers; returned to you or shredded.

Are there any privacy expectations concerning public disclosures related to my representation that I should be aware of before we begin?

We have requested that our representation remain confidential at all times. While we draft correspondence on your behalf, you will have the opportunity to review it before it is emailed, or sent. Eventually, the name of our nonprofit will appear on official documents, but only for recipients who have a legitimate need and right to know. Apart from this, your name will remain confidential, even from other members.

The details of your case will only be discussed with your permission with individuals we believe can contribute to achieving the desired outcome. Additionally, we ask that you refrain from seeking multiple advisors once you decide to work with us, as conflicting strategies could negatively impact your case in the long run.
